If you know my boys personally you know that they are full of...personality.
Jace is very type A and once he starts laughing you can't help but laugh with him. His laugh is that compelling. While Aydin on the other hand can have a sense of shyness to him. And when he says something sarcastic or out of the blue it will completely throw you off and he will have you in a smile (or laugh) within seconds. Jaxon is still building his personality but at the moment he is a rock star at funny faces and mimicking...which of course results in fun.
With the knowledge that I really shouldn't be surprised by what my kids do or say...I still am.
This morning I was in my bathroom getting ready. While Aydin and Jace were in their room getting dressed. It was quiet in the house. No music or t.v. on. Jaxon was entertained with a book. And as I was braiding my hair I hear this conversation:
Aydin- "OOOooohh Mommy is going to be soo mad."
Jace- "Yea?"
Aydin- "Yeah! I didn't do that Jace!"
Jace- "I didn't do that Aydin!"
Aydin- "Who did it? Who broke your toy box?"
Jace- "Ummm. I dunno. Ummm.... (long pause) I know SQUIRREL!"
*Now you can imagine me braiding my hair in my bathroom. For the first few sentences I was shaking my head and trying to figure out what was broken. And then I hear Squirrel! I almost laughed out loud! But I knew that this story would come to me in a few minutes so I had to keep my composure. Which was oh so hard!
Aydin- "(Laughing) Squirrel?? Whaaat? A squirrel did that?"
Jace- "(Laughing) Nyea! He came drew da wintow and up climbed here and jus did that!"
And then they erupt in laughter. And I almost do to.
We have an ongoing joke in our house. In the movie UP the dogs are always getting side tracked by said Squirrel. And Jace has that type of personality. You can tell the kid to go take his shoes off and he will make 10 comments along the way and find something else to do that does not include taking his shoes off. He'll then erupt in conversation that will consist of everything from, "Mom I don't like oranges." to "What's this do mommy?" Hence...Squirrel. The funny part is that the boys pull this joke alllll the time. "Hey mommy look, ...squirrel." It's quite funny. And to listen to this conversation today between my 4 year old and 3 year old was priceless. Not only are they smart enough to blame it on something other than themselves, they are witty enough to turn it into a joke.
Yes, I know. I will have my hands full when these boys are teens.
But hopefully it will be full of funny and witty comments...I can deal with that. :)
